Rick Barger is a retired pastor, author, and nonprofit founder whose work has focused on spiritual formation, congregational vitality, leadership, and human flourishing in a fractured world. He writes for thoughtful lay readers, pastors, and leaders at the intersection of theology and public life.
He previously served as President of Trinity Lutheran Seminary and as Lead Pastor of congregations in Colorado, Georgia, and Florida. He is the founder of the Haitian Timoun Foundation and has been engaged in long-term educational and community development work in Haiti for more than two decades. He holds a Doctor of Ministry degree from San Francisco Theological Seminary and is the author of A New and Right Spirit: Creating an Authentic Church in a Consumer Culture.
